Look for any error in hp printer's connections

The Hp Printer Offline issue state is the printer's way of indicating that something is wrong with the communication between the computer and the printer. It means there is something wrong with a USB cable or a network connection.

First, turn off and then restart the printer. Wait a while for it to be completely ready.

If your printer is connected via a USB cable, make sure your printer cable is properly connected. Also, look for any damage throughout the cable. If you find any, you should replace the cable.

If the printer is connected via a wired network, do the same as stated above with the ethernet cable too and ensure that the cable is securely connected to the Ethernet port.

If your Hp Printer Offline issue is connected through a wireless network, check that the wifi feature is on and your hp printer is connected to the same network as your PC.

 

Check that the printer status is not changed

An update to the printer's driver may change the printer settings without notifying you. Therefore, you must make sure that the status of the Hp Printer Offline issue is not changed. If the status is modified printer may show an offline error.

Press the key combination "Windows + I" simultaneously. From the window that appears click on "Devices" and then select the "Devices and Printers" option.

Windows 10 comes with pre-installed troubleshooting tools that can detect and resolve common issues automatically. You can take the help of the windows troubleshooter in case of printer offline error too.

Open the control panel either through the start menu or through pressing the Windows key + I together. Then go to  Devices and then to Printers & Scanners options.

Here click on, run the troubleshooter option in the menu on the right, under Related Settings.

The troubleshooter will execute a series of checks to determine what's causing the error. If it finds one, it will attempt to fix it. If it can't it will show you the steps you can take to clear the error.

Check that the correct port is selected

If the above options did not work and the printer is still in the offline mode the problem may be with the connection port. If the controller is using the wrong port for communication then the printer will remain offline because the connection between the printer and computer cannot be established.

Go to the Devices and Hp Printer Offline issue menu from the control panel, right-click on the icon representing the printer and choose Printer Properties.

On the following window that will open click on the port tab.

In the port dialogue box, check the list of ports and make sure the port type matches the connection used by the printer.

If you are using a USB connection, the port type must have USB or DOT4 in the description and if not you must select the required option by clicking the box next to it.

In case you are using a network connection, ensure that the WSD port type, network, or IP is selected in the description.

Add a printer manually using IP address

This will only work if the Hp Printer Offline issue uses a network connection instead of the USB cable. You can set a manual IP address for your printer and add a port on your PC to re-establish communication between the PC and the printer. Once you have the IP address navigate to the device and printers option in the control panel.

From the list of connected devices, right-click on the printer's icon then select "Printer Properties"

In the printer properties dialogue box, click on the "Ports" tab and then select the  "Add Port " option.

Choose the port type as "Standard TCP / IP Port" and then click on the "New Port " option.

Now enter the IP address of the printer and then click on the apply button.
